Who We Are
We’re The Ready
We’re here to change how the world works—from business as usual to brave new work. It takes an unusual person to disrupt decades of tradition and guide hundreds or thousands of people through an experience that demands their bravery, vulnerability, and curiosity. It takes conviction to join a decentralized, self-managing, public benefit corporation where reputation matters more than position.
Our people
The people who make up The Ready are specialists in the ways of organizational culture and transformation. Yet within that world we are generalists drawing freely from the principles and practices of dozens of theories and hundreds of iconoclastic firms. We are coaches, facilitators, academics, psychologists, technologists, and corporate veterans who have found each other in our quest to make work better. Our backgrounds are varied but our ambition is united.
The Ready’s purpose is to change how the world works—from business as usual to brave new work. We believe that brave new work is work that’s more human, adaptive, meaningful, and equitable. Joining the thousands of organizations that awakened to the long-standing, global movements for racial justice, we too recognized that The Ready could not fulfill our purpose—could not live into our principles honestly—without making equity a fundamental component of the impact we hope to make in the world. Is a future of work that’s more human and meaningful for some good enough? Our answer to that question was, is, and will always be “No.”
We want The Ready to represent the future of work through the principles and practices we embody. Our shared future is a more diverse and inclusive one—and we are committed to having our membership reflect that, too. That’s why instead of sharing a brief statement, we want to share more—as transparently as we can—about the work we’ve been doing on ourselves and the work still left to do. We are naming our intentions, gaps, and attempts to hopefully make it easier for people of color and others with marginalized identities to be more well-informed when applying to join The Ready.
